SAIL Society Amsterdam

 Keeping the legacy alive

SAIL Society Amsterdam is a club of companies with an affinity for SAIL Amsterdam. The Society is active within the SAIL Amsterdam Foundation.

Who are we

SAIL Society Amsterdam is a club of companies with an affinity with the SAIL event. The Society is active within the SAIL Amsterdam Foundation, which organises SAIL Amsterdam every five years.

Nautical Amsterdam
SAIL Society Amsterdam supports the development of nautical Amsterdam in the broadest sense of the word. She promotes cooperation between the SAIL Amsterdam Foundation, the government and the business community. Through informal member meetings these parties meet monthly.

Realize and guarantee SAIL Amsterdam
The most important role of the Society is to help realise and guarantee the continuity of SAIL Amsterdam. Thanks to the SAIL Society Amsterdam, the ideas remain alive and well and work can be done on a strong brand.
The Society has no profit motive. Members of the SAIL Society Amsterdam support SAIL commercially, professionally and creatively.

The board
Micha Wijngaarde (chairman and member of the board of the Stichting SAIL Amsterdam)
Miranda van Dinther (secretary and portfolio of activities and events)
Lieselot Oosterkamp (portfolio organization, structure and finance)
Jeroen Veenstra (portfolio recruitment)
John Jelsma (communication portfolio)

History

SAIL Society Amsterdam was officially launched on 8 April 2008 in the presence of alderman Carolien Gehrels. The Society originated from the need for a more continuous coherence of nautical activities in and around Amsterdam in the years between the SAIL events. The rapid growth in the number of members and the enthusiasm for participation in activities of the Society show the importance for the future of SAIL and nautical Amsterdam for residents and enthusiasts.

Membership

A membership of SAIL Society Amsterdam means the preservation and continuation of SAIL Amsterdam and Amsterdam as a nautical city. Companies that subscribe to this objective can register for SAIL Society Amsterdam.

Interested in a membership of SAIL Society Amsterdam?
For more information, please contact Iris Brandsteder via societeit@sail.nl.

Because we deliberately limit a large number of members, a membership of SAIL Society Amsterdam is decided and exclusive. Companies with a demonstrable nautical, entrepreneurial and social profile have priority, this at the discretion of the board. No correspondence will be made about decisions taken.

General information about membership
A permanent contact person is registered per membership. The company can appoint a permanent replacement who can attend the meetings if unable to attend.
The membership costs amount to € 2,500 excl. VAT per year. 50% of this amount goes to the SAIL Amsterdam Foundation for sponsoring the continuity of the SAIL Amsterdam organization. The other 50% is largely spent on the organisation of member activities. A membership is entered into for at least three years to form a good basis for a fixed price in the longer term.

Membership activities

SAIL Society Amsterdam organizes an activity every month. Members of the SAIL Amsterdam Foundation will then meet informally. The nature and content of the meetings are determined in consultation with the members. The concepts of CSR and sustainability are inextricably linked to everything we do.
