Dar Mlodziezy
'Gift of youth'
The Dar Młodzieży (Polish for "Gift of the Youth") is one of the world’s most impressive sailing giants. With her 109-meter length and elegant three-masted rig, she is a true icon at sea. Owned by the Maritime University in Gdynia, she serves as a training ship for future naval officers.
But the Dar is more than just a floating classroom. Since her launch in 1981, she has sailed over 580,000 nautical miles and became the first Polish ship to circumnavigate the globe after World War II. She made an immediate name for herself by narrowly beating the German Gorch Fock in her very first Tall Ships’ Race (The Cutty Sark Tall Ships' Races, in 1982), winning by just 14 minutes and 18 seconds.
From Japan to Cape Horn, from state visits to royal receptions, wherever she docks, she turns heads. And while she carries a classic appearance, she is equipped with the latest navigation technology.
A living testament that tradition and modernity go hand in hand and that the youth holds the future of the sea.
