Story

Tres Hombres

Sailing ambassador for cleaner maritime

The Tres Hombres is the only trans-Atlantic sailing freighter without an engine! She is the flagship of Fairtransport and the sailing ambassador for cleaner sea transport. An initiative of the three friends Arjen van der Veen, Jorne Langelaan and Andreas Lackner.

In 2007, the 3 friends bought an old shipwreck and decided to make it into an engineless sailing cargo ship. It was then renamed Tres Hombres and in 2010 they made their first Atlantic crossing to sail aid goods to Haiti after a natural disaster destroyed parts of the island.

Since then, Tres Hombres crosses the ocean every year to sail coffee, cocoa and rum back to the Netherlands and she sails around Europe in the summer to sail other delicacies like wine and olive oil. She ships products for third-party companies as well as for her own brand, Tres Hombres. Those interested can experience the adventurous freight trips of the Tres Hombres as a trainee on board.
