Belle Poule

A French classic with a maritime mission

Belle Poule is an impressive French schooner with a rich history. Since her launch in 1932, she has served as a training ship for the French Navy, making her a familiar presence in the international Tall Ships community. With her elegant lines, traditional rig, and maritime charm, Belle Poule is a ship that never goes unnoticed.

This 37.5-metre schooner, homeported in Brest, functions as a sailing classroom where young cadets learn the essentials of seamanship, teamwork, and naval tradition. The crew consists of 16 naval personnel, and the ship can host 13 trainees on board.

With her striking rigging, Belle Poule can reach sailing speeds of 7 to 9 knots. At 32.5 metres high and 7.5 metres wide, she is both agile and seaworthy.

Belle Poule has visited SAIL Amsterdam before, and she returns once again for this anniversary edition. After an extensive refit in 2022, she’s in top condition. Ready to inspire a new generation of sailors and enthusiasts.
