Story

Ide Min

Sailing cargo vessel of KaapKargo

The Ide Min is a unique sailing cargo ship that transports goods using wind power. Originally built in 1957 as an East German tugboat, she was converted into a sailing charter vessel in Poland in 1993. In 2022, she was given a new life in Amsterdam by WoodiesAtBerlin, transformed into a sustainable cargo ship with a capacity of 60 tons.

The Ide Min’s home port is Kaap de Groene Hoop in Amsterdam, where KaapKargo is working towards sustainable shipping and a circular economy. The goal is to establish a fleet of sailing cargo vessels offering reliable, low-impact transport services, connecting Europe with destinations like the Caribbean.

KaapKargo combines expertise in shipbuilding and entrepreneurship to promote sustainable logistics. The project also aims to create social impact by building teams and offering opportunities for people with a passion for sailing and sustainability.
